EW DELHI: Lenovo's sub-brand ZUK's CEO Chang Chen recently announced the
company's Z2 smartphones will soon be getting Android 7.0 Nougat
update. Now latest speculations suggest that the update to latest
version of Google's Android OS will also be available on Z2 Pro and Z1
smartphones.
According to multiple online reports, ZUK Z2 Pro
will get the update to the latest Android OS starting January 28, 2017.
It will come baked along with the company's own ZUI 2.5 version. The ZUK Z1 too will be receiving Android Nougat beta build in January.
Interestingly,
Lenovo has not yet revealed if any of its own Lenovo-branded
smartphones will be receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat. Its other
subsidiary, Motorola has, however, released the complete list of
smartphones that will be getting the newest OS version.
The
new OS version will bring 'smart notification management' and replying
options, 72 new Emoji characters, multi-window view with quick switching
between apps, better 3D graphic performance with Vulkan API, new
virtual reality mode for Daydream-supporting handsets, improved
battery-saving Doze feature, data saving feature, display size
adjustment, and file-based encryption for better security among others.
However, it is yet to be seen if ZUK goes for some customisations in the
OS update.
Rival
companies have also started rolling out Nougat OS update to its
flagship smartphones. Sony recently started rolling out Android 7.0
Nougat to its Xperia XZ. Android One and Nexus devices have already
recieved the update.
Other
than Lenovo, some other Chinese technology companies like OnePlus,
Huawei and others too have started or are working on the Android Nougat
OS update for their smartphones. During OnePlus 3T's
global unveiling, the company announced that both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus
3T will receive Android 7.0 Nougat update later this year. OnePlus 3
beta testers have already started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat-based
OxygenOS Open Beta 8.
